The mirror people are for you and not for me...

If I were addicted to drugs, I wonder what I would be like?

Go check out Melvin
and you'll see where i'm coming from.

I am always so curious about drug addiction and the movies based on some very famous books about it, but I always end up becoming so narrow minded and asking WHY?

Seeing Naked Lunch helps a bit, and hearing Burroughs, but still.

I would never be able to do it.

I'm fasting today. And let me say this, it's not easy. Melvin says it's a kind of high, but I have not reached that part yet. I'll pass out before I get to that plataeu.

My friend Steve is reading Thomas de Quincey's Confessions of an Opium Eater at the moment. It sounds like a good read.

I'm fascinated by drug addiction too ~ will always read novels or see movies where it's the theme. Why are you fasting dear girl?

Hey David-I've heard of that, it does sound really good. Will put it in my notebook of things to read. How is it going?

acamama-I remember seeing Drugstore Cowboy. I always see these with Melvin. I cannot recollect drug movies prior to dating/marrying him. My best friend in college was trying to get into NYU Film school, so the summer before we must have watched a zillion must see foriegn films. Funny I don't think any of them were about drugs.

about the fasting...medical reasons for the next day. read latest blog.

Alan-I am way too old for acid. And besides Melvin and I have discussed this and I already imagine way too many things that aren't really happening, so I'm a bad candidate. I would just be setting myself up for a bad trip.

That is a super story. The man who never was...there's a movie in that I think.

I've always stuck with my coffee and cigarettes -- that's always been enough for me [now I am making do with the former only].

Fascinating, absolutely. But I have never felt the urge or need or desire as such to try out drugs myself. Or maybe I've been too scared. I guess I am a bad candidate too -- for the same reasons you state, PG.

Lilly-I'm so happy you have stopped the cigs. Best thing you could have done. Really!
I'm really a wimp when it comes to things like that, but in actuality I ahve had some major drugs, having had a baby and all. Dr. Feel Good is always loved.

Hmm, I think there's a fine line between using and abusing drugs. I would HATE to be a drug addict. The ones I've met have made me incredibly sad. Books and films that make it into something mysterious and meaningful have a lot to answer for. Yes, there's been some incredible literature and art that have sprung from the mind of addicts, but what of their shackled lives. Poor Elliot Smith, RIP.
