I think Mr.Fantastic of the Fantastic Four looks an awful lot like Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. Am I right? He even has the gray hair.

This got me thinking, if Mr.Fantastic is Jon Stewart and there is a Jon Stewart for President 2008 campaign(there are t-shirts made-really)-stay with me here-Mr.Fantastic could be our next president.

Think of all the possibilities!

Now I will never be satisfied with any of the candidates. I need my president to have at least ONE superhuman strength.
And trust me, it's not saying nuclear correctly.

Alright now! I laughed out loud at this because he DOES look like Jon Stewart!! OMG, how uncanny! PG, you're a gift. I was laughing out loud at your zombie-phobia posts, too. So tell me...have you even approached the "Evil Dead" movies? And did you see "Sean of the Dead"? I highly recommend these in an effort to overcome your phobia. Then rent out "Army of Darkness" (the sorta-fourth "Evil Dead" even though it was vastly different, but my absolute favorite of the four). You'll get some laughs out of that one.

Honestly, I can't empathize with you because I'm on the enternal hunt for a horror flick that actually scares me. The only one to ever do it for me was "The Exorcist" (original and, IMO, the only one worth anything). Haven't found a single one since then that's scared me. Though my husband and I saw "High Tension" a few weeks ago and that was pretty tense, but the guy who directed/wrote it so obviously "borrowed" the plot (down to tiny details) from Dean Koontz's "Intensity" and never gave him one iota of credit. He admitted to it in an interview though. I don't blame Koontz for not caring much though because the guy totally screwed with (and screwed UP) the ending!! The movie is good until you get to his plot twist. Then you're left very disappointed and sitting there going WTF?? Now earlier stuff in the movie makes no sense. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Damn, how come I ramble whenever I post on here? I guess you bring that out in me, PG. :)

I wonder if Jon Stewart knows these dolls are out?

oh cdt-the zombie saga continues. You know I think I have seen the first 2 Evil Deads. I may have been drunk at the time. We should ask itsmelvin what the deal was when I saw these. I think I was a feeling a little squeamish.
High Tension-oh yeah-my hubby is trying to convince me that I would like it. A chick fighting off baddies. I try to think of myself as being powerful against forces of evil. I'll get back to you on that.

I gotta tell you if you're squimish with gratuitous violence, don't see "High Tension". We're not talking about monsters and zombies violence where there's a sense of unreality hiding behind it, but this is violence that hits home in a way and the idea of the plot alone is frightening enough (props to Koontz for that...he's the master designer behind that plot--except the ending). I'm not normally squimish with violence and blood and gore and all, but there's one specific scene I can recall in that movie that made me cringe. The girl who plays the lead role is good in the role, really a bad-ass and you're rooting for her the whole time. Worth seeing, definitely. Good on the big screen (especially for the full effect of the tension--and it definitely does keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time). Wait for it in the dollar theatre, though. Yes, the ending is that bad. If the writer/director had just stuck to the plot Koontz had laid out, that movie would have been excellent.

Is it sad to say I'm not bad with the violence-at least not until recently(Or if it's a bad time in the month). I just can't watch movie after movie like this. And please-no zombies. On the flip side, we just watched a Bergman film and it was beautiful and haunting, yet I still could not watch many in a row. Variety is the spice of life. Right?
Well we don't go to the movies anymore since the little man, so we'll wait until netflix has it.

off topic, but we just rented The Graduate..so dated yet great to get a sense of that time...

MB-that is one of my favorite movies of all time! I remember seeing it the summer before my senior year in high school. Changed my life.

That 'nukular' thing really bugs you - doesn't it? It does bug me, but I know that most people just don't care= and that annoys.

paintergirl said...

Gotham-it is irratating and it grates on my nerves when I hear him say it! It's kind of like in "Pink Panther Strikes Again" when Herbert Lom's character is running his nails on the blackboard. Just not as funny. And yes it's more annoying that people don't care.

pg, is my jon obsession really that known? well.. i guess it is huh? i like the idea of meeting him, giving a big fat wink and saying

Being secretly married to him was the tip off for me. You are so funny. I bet he makes all of his staff call him Mr.Fatastic. And his wife calls him Mr. Stretchy.
