Building higher and higher...

So I have had many ups and downs in this past week. I do really well when when I have a list.

As soon as I told you guys about the Wedding Project, I had some bad news from my mom.
She was scheduled for a routine type surgery-today actually, but her doctor wanted one last test. A CT scan of her pelvis. The test came back, and a lesion was found on her liver. At first I thought, well that's common, but she probably needs that checked out before surgery. So the surgery was cancelled and an MRI appointment was made. Then I got an email from my sister and she used Cancer in her note. Yes I freaked. Then I started looking into liver cancer(what a bad idea) all of my mom's symptoms are the same for liver disease.

Immediately our world was changed. If she had to have treatment, I would have to be there and drive her to appointments. In fact all of us would because we won't have a house soon. If that were the case, we had a plan. The project would be postponed.

MRI was done. made us wait OVER the weekend. Jeez why do they do that? It was a painful wait, but I tried reassuring my sister, we'll deal with this one thing at a time.

Monday afternoon, my mom called and the lesion is just a lesion. YAY! It's a collection of blood vessels. They'll want to do another scan in a few months, but she can reschedule her surgery. And my sister found out that a medicine my mom takes will cause lesions. The catch 22 of this is she needs to take this medicine before and after surgery. Can you believe that? Immediately I had J going to Whole Foods and the Vitamin Shoppe to find Milk Thistle because it's fantastic for the liver.

Ok-so we've been wanting to take the wee man to see the Empire State building. We did it over the weekend. It was a good time to be in the city and nice to get my mind off of well everything.

So beautiful. And now on top with a lovely view of the Chrysler. Oh after a crazy hour wait. Good thing we had a nice lunch and mommy had a Thai iced coffee. Yeah, I'll walk up those extra 6 flights and not wait 20 more minutes.

Then here' s The Rock front and center with Central Park in the back. There is something I love about the GE building. Very nostalgic, I don't know why.

And here's one of my last entries for this sketchbook. I'm Empire obsessed.

I'm so glad to hear that the lesion is just a lesion. What a relief that had to be.

Love the photos from up top. I would love to go up there someday.

So will the plan proceed as planned now? Gosh, that sounds so redundant.

Oh am I ever relieved your mama is alright. Phew.
I have the top of the Empire State building on my 101 list - synchronicity my friend.

And I'm Chrysler building obsessed - Empire too. I heart most of the major NYC landmarks.

Thank goodness for that, I'm glad to hear that everything is okay with you mum.

My favourite NYC building has always been the Chrysler Building (gotta love that stainless steel), then The Woolworth Building, and The Paramount Building, and 63 Wall Street, and the American Standard building (I always imagine the Daily Planet globe on top of this one), The General Electric Tower....I could go on all day...sometime, I'm going to have to make an effort to go over and see them. I suppose I'm just obsessed with Art Deco architecture.

That is so scary, am glad things are okay. I mean, that stuff is never okay because I mean, a lesion, but glad it ended up being just a lesion.

Is the Empire State Building really blue? Just kidding. The colors in the photos are pretty.!!!

Sweet PG, Alan called me in to the pc last night when he read your post and wrote the above comment. But since he was the one logged into Blogger, etc. I am waiting until today to second what he said about your mum's health :-)

Take it easy, girl.

jc-It is a huge relief but she's not happy.
The plan is back on man.

kristen-we do have synchronicity. we do that alot. Let me give you some advice on the whole crowd issue-wait until summer is over. And I love the Chrysler too. So many to love.

alan-You two should totally come. There is so much to see, it's a great place. You guys would LOVE it!

stepping-hee. My sky was so washed out and I started messing with my scale. We couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

lilly-oh you are such a dear. Mom is mom. I don't know why she has become such a negative nelly. It worries me a bit. But I'm doing better. I deal with all the blows.

Well, you know I'm glad your mother is okay. Things just have to get better - we need some peace and tranquility.

Hey there! Glad to hear the lesion is a lesion. Working as a transcriptionist, I gladly see more lesions than not lesions, but thank goodness the doctors check anyway. Hope you are doing well.

I would love to go to the Empire State building someday. I was in NYC in 2003 for the 1st/last time, and I hope to make it back.
