Hearing old Madonna makes me smile. Sometimes shopping makes me smile too.
I"m not the typical shopping gal. In fact, I really don't care about it that much at all. But sometimes, when the mood strikes, I like it. The best thing of all is to go to a thrift store and find wonderful, glorious things. This was a recent shopping spree, all for $20. My most prized treasure is the fuzzy blue purse. This makes me VERY happy. The straps are springy, so when you walk and carry it, it bounces and puts a spring in your step. The inside is lined with neon orange neoprene material. I am truly at peace with this super furry bag. If I were a bag, this would be me.
The Miles Davis record is great. The shirt reminds me of Amsterdam, and the dress is perfect for summer.

OOOOW!!! How nifty is that stuff??!!! Totally NIFTY, PG! :-D I think we're very similar when it comes to shopping; I'm not that big on it either but....once in a while, oh yeah!
I love that purse! And from your description, I love it even more. Very cool. I like the other purse [or bag?] too -- the beige one. And the dress; very feminine and very funky :-D
You go, girl :-)
The beige one is cool too. It has a snap top. Reminds me of old airplane bags. I think companies like PanAm used to give 1st class passengers the cool bags. Anyway, it has the sort of feel.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooh! You don't want to get me started on airplane bags! It's one of my obsessions! Seriously. I will take some photos soon and upload them. They are SO gorgeous. The PanAm ones are cracking like!
Oh man-you have some airplane bags? You have to show a pic, I would love to see them. I don't have any. My closest is a very pink bowling bag from the 70's. I'm jealous.
I adore your taste! Love the bag, love the dress, love it all. Won't you look adorable in these items, and you won't be seeing yourself coming and going.
I always had trouble with the GAP because they'd have a million pieces of the same thing and just walking around the mall you could find dozens of people looking like walking ads for the GAP.
Finding something unique at the thrift store is one of my greatest joys!
All great stuff PG! I wish there were better thrifty stores around here that weren't picked over or over-priced or both!
MB-Thank you. You have great taste too-don't you have some Betsey Johnson skirts? Did you know she has a hotel in mexico?
You know when I was a morbid angst filled teen/even early college, it was all black. that's what artists wear. If you want to be serious, life is black. I think I was more Post-beatnik, than 8o's nyc scene. Anyway-I was always at home in my black turtle neck Loved it. Now I have ventured into other colors, just because I can't stand, like you , the gap clothes. It's nice to have classic clothes, whites, blacks, beige, but I don't know, there is more in life, so why not spice it up.
Kiki-Can you believe I found it in Croton-Harmon? I'm not sure where this stuff came from, but the dress is a designer brand, and they run in boutiques for $120. I lucked out. I would find these things and look around and say, "I can't believe I found this or no one wanted this?!" This is a very rare shopping trip indeed.
Cheers, Alan -- for doing all the work for me ;-)
